Day 5... already?

sunny 42 °F

What a day...

Charlottesville finally warmed up... sun and everything! We decided to visit Monticello in the late morning... I guess seeing the sun was such a shock we couldn't get started early... Monticello proved that Thomas Jefferson was quite the Renaissance man dabbling in so many things... wasn't distracted by the internet back then! The tour was fascinating with an animated tour guide who kept us entertained... no pictures of the interior - not permitted - but the exterior shots I was able to get tells some of the history... a quick lunch in the parking lot and off we go to our boondocking experience in Raleigh North Carolina...

Let's see... we take the 64 to the 288 then the 95 to the 85 to the 1... got that? Hey it's sunny and warm! We go straight through with a few rest stops on the way - pick up a map at the welcome center - and a look see to find a Walmart... We actually had to deal with construction the last 15 miles in Virginia... The first construction we've seen in the US... and we've done over 1600 km since leaving home...

We finally reach our boondocking hosts - after loading up at Walmart - who were waiting to help us setup... electric connected... check... WiFi connected... check... water connected... check... hold it... there's water leaking in the bathroom... clean it up check the faucets & try again... damn still water leaking... take a really close look with flashlight... uh oh... water seems to leaking from behind the wall cover behind the toilet... broken water line? Need to take everything apart... going to have to wait until Savannah since any water flowing through the pipes will leak here... more flooding we don't need... well Louise wanted me to remove the sink in there anyway... so Savannah will be a plumbing job... then there's still Louise's bike to fix... or replace? Walmart has some interesting & very affordable possibilities...

So tomorrow should be fun as we head to the state park and I become s plumber! And Louise came on this trip for a rest...

As the WiFi is a little spotty I'll try loading up pictures to this entry tomorrow...
